masyaf-eagle started following you

tazim-al-sayf:

He tenses when he see Altair approach. “Greeting’s-” He frowned momentary forgetting how he should properly greet him. “Grandmaster. My father has mentioned many things about you, it’s an honor sir.”

*gives a hint of a smile at the boy* You needn’t be so formal right now, Tazim. You are free to call me by name, as you once did.

Curiosity Killed the Eagle

the1stborn:

Darim failed fighting off the frown showing up on his features at the comment of his father. He wasn’t like him, at all. That’s what he was thinking.. The young man remained quiet, however, to listen to his father’s explanations. Upon hearing the elder’s words the look on his face changed into a weird mix of confusion, disgust and disbelief. A man lying with other men? How was that even supposed to— No, he really didn’t want to think about it. Actually, he’d have never thought about such a thing being possible at all if he hadn’t heard it right now. It seemed far too… wrong.

Albeit he felt even worse uncomfortable now seeing the new dubious knowledge he had gained, and of course Altair’s gesture told him his father felt the same way, he still felt a weird curiousness dwelling up within him. And even though he sure didn’t want to know further about the topic itself- It’s roots sure interested him. “But.. that’s— sick. I mean… are these.. men- Are they ill? Insane?”

"Some say they are…" Altair hesitated, dreading his son’s reaction. He really was so similar to himself, ignorant and quick to judge. Ah, how foolish his youthful arrogance had made him all those years ago…

"I, however, do not." He knew that this would be like a stone cast into a pond. "I do not fully understand these men, and thus I try to abstain from judging them." He reached into the cage to stroke the head of a bird, soothed by its soft coos. "Affection may be part of the cause, is what I’ve surmised so far."

the1stborn:

“…A while ago I watched the execution of two men being accused of sodomy.” He stops for a moment, feeling uncomfortable of making his unknowing obvious. “..I wondered if you can explain to me what sodomy means.”

PS: *likeIwillaskyoufirstifI’mallowedtorunawaywithConnor*

… Truth be told, I never expected my children to ask such difficult  questions, especially of this nature. I suppose you are too much like me. *sighs, resolving himself* The act you speak of means that they were accused of laying with other men. The people of the 3 faiths that dwell in this land -Muslim, Jew, and Christian- view this as both a crime and sin deserving death.

*turns back to the bookshelf to gaze at the pigeons resting in their cage, obviously troubled by the subject*

masyaf-eagle:

*chuckles, a smirk emerging on his face— the insult has become a sort of nickname over the years of their long friendship* Malik, I know that you’re pleased to have a newborn son, but calling him a novice seems harsh, hm?

Ha ha. <Moves his hand from his shoulder after giving a small shove> My newborn has  cleverer retorts than you. But enough - I assume all is well?

*winces at the shove* Naam, everything is fine, though I’d prefer if you didn’t reopen my wound. My shoulder aches enough as it is.

Safety and peace, my friend. ((Eeee, a Malik at last! *fangirl flailing* Finally someone to call me novice all the time, ahaha!))

dai-swagger:

Ah, so you’ve decided to grace me with your presence. <His tone is low but actions warm as he puts a hand on the other’s shoulder> My work has now doubled with your return, as now I have yet another novice to babysit.

(Sdjkgdk I only hope I do him justice)

*chuckles, a smirk emerging on his face— the insult has become a sort of nickname over the years of their long friendship* Malik, I know that you’re pleased to have a newborn son, but calling him a novice seems harsh, hm?

masyaf-hawkling-deactivated2012 sent: *Notices bird on his father's head* Baba? Why is there an eagle on your head? Is it a new pet?

Ah… perhaps. It seems to have decided to make a roost here.

masyaf-hawkling-deactivated2012 sent: "Baba, did you see Darim?" said Sef with a knowing smile. "I knew that he would come back"

Naam, Sef,” answered the Flying One, bouncing said elder ‘eaglet’ in his arms, “Your brother is home, and all is well.”

theapparentheir sent: "Baba!" The boy threw up his arms in delight, eyes shining as bright as the smile on his lips as he approached his father.

"Darim? Darim!" He swept the boy into his arms in a squeezing, loving vice of a hug, his arms unwilling to let his son leave. What seemed like years of worried searching melted away as he held his firstborn.

"Darim, where have you been?! I’ve searched everywhere for you, spent weeks combing the Holy Land, from here to Acre, Jerusalem and Damascus."

Yes Altair, talk to me. Sef go and get your shoes on. /pats his head

*looks away, hating that he’s shown weakness to his family* It’s nothing, Maria. A bad memory, nothing more.

/Crosses arms, tap foot/ Altair. Tell me.

*long pause, a sigh finally breaking the silence* I was thinking of AL Mualim.
